A Message From the Dean
San Diego State University (SDSU) offers prospective graduate students and faculty the opportunity to engage in the highest caliber graduate training, academic scholarship and research, in one of the most beautiful and diverse settings in our nation. With over $150 million in contracts and grants award in 2010, SDSU has been described by the Carnegie Foundation as a "research university with high research activity"; a statement reflecting the strength and commitment of the campus to its 86 Master's programs and 24 joint-doctoral programs, many ranked among the top 10 in the nation by Academic Analytics such as clinical psychology, geography, math and science education, and language and communication disorders. The Coastal Waters Laboratory, Donald P. Shiley BioScience Center, and the SDSU Visualization Center are a few of the diverse research facilities housed on the campus’ and foundation’s approximately 1.5 million square feet dedicated to support SDSU’s academic and research programs.
