Credentials and Advanced Certificates at SDSU
Admission to a credential or certificate program
- New students who wish to pursue only an Advanced Credential or Advanced Certificate must apply to the appropriate program through Cal State Apply.
- New students who enter a “bundled” Master’s + Advanced Credential program submit only one Master’s application through Cal State Apply. Within the Cal State Apply process, you will have an opportunity to indicate the specific credential you are interested in.
- New students who enter a “bundled” Master’s + Advanced Certificate program submit only one Master’s application through Cal State Apply. Specific questions about the Certificate may not appear within the Cal State Apply process. If you are unclear whether you are applying to a bundled program, please contact the program’s graduate advisor.
- Students currently pursuing a Master’s or doctoral degree may add on an optional Advanced Certificate by initiating a “Request for Permission to Enter an Advanced Certificate Program” electronic form here. This form must be completed before completing 50% of the certificate units.
- Students currently pursuing a Master’s or doctoral degree may add on an optional Advanced Credential by contacting the credential office or advisor in the appropriate department/college. Each credential has its own process for this request. This form must be completed before completing 50% of the credential units.
